What is Simple Give?
Simple Give provides churches and non-profit organizations the ablility to accept online giving. Churches can also take payments for church camp, conferences, building programs and other preconfigured accounts. Churches can setup a way for members to help victims of a natural disaster like Katrina within minutes.
How do I use Simple Give?
We have created a demo for you to have full access to the product. Please go to http://www.simplegive.com/demo.html to learn more.
Since transactions go through SimpleGive, how soon does the money go into the church's account after you take out the transaction fee?
Money from Credit Card/Check Card transactions are deposited into the church's account that night. Money from ACH (e-check) transactions take a few days to be deposited into the church's account. The reason for the delay in ACH is for verification that the funds are there, whereas Credit Cards/Check Cards have real-time validation of availability of funds. FYI - SimpleGive never has possession of the funds. They go straight from the user's bank to your organizations bank.
Are there any maintenance fees for changes like adding a fund category, or a new report?
There is no charge for this. You are able to change funding categories on your own in the administration area. Reports are a little different. There are several reports that you will have access to, but since we build these report ourselves it would be unrealistic for us to say yes you can have any report you can dream up and its free. We will definitely provide some great reports and are very open to reports and statistic requests. We will do what we can to fill these requests.
What happens if someone questions a withdrawal?
If someone questions a withdrawal, we will work with you to determine if it was legitimate or not. If it is not, then we can suspend the account and take a look at our anti-fraud measures again. For disputed transactions, you will have the ability to process credits. This is done through the administrative section of Authorize.Net, which is the payment gateway service that we use. We will work with you on training of how to use the administrative section of Authorize.Net. We are implementing controls to try to limit fraud. The greatest fraud threat that we see is "carders" using the site to try to validate Credit Cards. They will do this by submitting low value transactions (from cards they have, not cards from our site), and if the transaction passes then they will go to a different site and actually use the card to purchase a product/service. This type of fraud will not affect your members, but would affect your church because of the transaction fees involved/administration of crediting/voiding these requests. We are working on limiting access to only IP's in the US and Canada, and to disallow Anonymous Proxy users. The following is the URL to a service we are implementing to limit fraudulent activities: http://www.maxmind.com/app/minfraud . MaxMind does a reverse IP lookup to find out where the IP address is located. If the IP is black listed or from Russia, it will prevent activity. Since your organization is not selling anything, we don't have a draw of criminals and thieves coming to your web site to purchase items with a false credit card.
Who is liable for card information and cleaning up the mess if a cybertheft takes place?
This is not an easy question to answer. If SimpleGive was at fault for a data breach, then SimpleGive would be liable. Depending on the number of people who use reoccurring payments, there is not much data in our system worth stealing beside our intellectual property. Only recurring transactions have the credit card or bank account information stored within our system. Only 20% of transactions were reoccurring, and thus would have credit card/bank account information stored. Also, Credit Card Companies and Merchant Account providers take a great deal of precautions to protect their accounts and provide assurance against fraud. All single transactions are processed over a 256 bit transaction encryption from the users computer to the merchant. Once the transaction is done, all sensitive data is immediately deleted upon processing. If a hacker did get in to the system (say they stole a high level password) they would still have to find the data, and then if they did come across the data it would look like a big pile of garbage. They would then need to decrypt this pile of garbage and if (big IF) they are able to decrypt it, they have a pile of numbers they would need to match up with names and addresses stored in a separate place before they would be able to charge a card. You can rest assured that if there is any kind of credit card fraud it will not have happened on our end.
What happens if there are insufficient funds in a payment?
Credit Cards/Check Cards do real time validation to ensure availability of funds. ACH does not. If an ACH request is processed and there is NSF, there is a $3.00 charge. This is charged by the ACH merchant account provider, and we do not have any control over this rate.
We know that we will have to enter the EFT giving into our software package like we would do today if we got a check. Is it possible to download the giving into a transferable file for our new church software package?
Yes, you will be able to download it in a CVS file, which most software packages can handle. As for the specifics of importing it into your software, you would have to ask your vendor about that.
We will want to go LIVE with just a few people within the church that would like to be the guinea pigs before we go LIVE with the congregation, is this possible?
That's a great way to get started. We can definitely do that.
What are the different types of payments we can take with SG?
Simple Give takes Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and Personal Checks.
Can I use Simple Give to accept transactions other than donations and giving?
Yes, you can accept moneys on any pre-configured category. Accept payments for camp registration, building funds, a special offering for Easter.
Can I accept recurring donations and payments?
Yes, you can setup multiple recurring payments and donations.
Does Simple Give offer a "virtual terminal"?
Yes
What is a "virtual terminal"?
The secure Virtual Terminal and Batch Upload features enable merchants to process credit card and/or ACH transactions manually. Simple Give merchants access the Virtual Terminal and Batch Upload features through a Web-based Merchant Interface. Transactions are immediately submitted for authorization and processing each day.
How will I know a donation has been made?
Email notifications can be setup for both the giver and the organization. This will provided an instance receipt to the giver and an instance notification to the organization.
Is my account information safe?
Yes, your account is more then safe with Simple Give. We take security very seriously. All information is encrypted with 256 bit from the users web browser to the merchant provider and then onto the actual bank. Only recurring information is stored on ours servers. All other payment information is erased from our servers seconds after it is submitted. The actual servers are located in an underground secure facility in Florida. All information that is stored on our data base is not easily found and is stored in several different locations. So if a hacker did get in to the system (say they stole a high level password) they would still have to find the data, and then if they did come across the data it would look like a big pile of garbage.

How long will it be before I can start taking donations?
